Haiti - Heritage : 30th edition of the European Heritage Days
Saturday, on the occasion of the 30th edition of the European Heritage Days, the French Institute in Haiti (IFH) and the Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL) offer the public a walking tour to discover or rediscover the neighborhood of Bois-Verna and its traditional houses Gingerbread, witnesses of the glorious past of Port-au-Prince.

Registered in 2010 by the Word Monuments Fund on the list of buildings "to monitor", style houses "Gingerbread", built in Haiti between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, are considered as a unique eclectic architecture for their time. Their style is a synthesis of architectural solutions adapted to the climate and the Haitian national culture.

This visit will be particularly the opportunity for FOKAL to explain the project to restore that the foundation is conducting on a Gingerbread house in partnership with the Walloon Heritage Institute (IPW) and the World Monuments Fund (WMF).

The walk will take place Saturday, September 14, upon registration only.
Register with the Cultural Office of the IFH from 9:00 am to noon and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday (closed Friday afternoon).
