Haiti - Politic : The Embassy of the United States welcomes the vote of the law on transnational fraud

The Embassy of the United States congratulates the Chamber of Deputies for its recent vote on September 9, 2013, approving the anti-money laundering and financing of International Terrorism legislation (transnational fraud) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9411-haiti-politic-the-law-on-transnational-fraud-finally-passed.html

"We salute the parliament, the executive, and the banking sector for cooperative work on this important reform which is a positive step forward toward bringing Haiti into compliance with international norms to prevent and control money laundering and to combat the financing of terrorism. We look forward to an immediate publication and scrupulous implementation of this law.

The Government of the United States stands ready to work in partnership with the Haitian government to combat the scourges of money laundering and international terrorism financing. In addition, we remain committed to supporting the Haitian people and the Haitian government over the long-term, in building a country that is stable, prosperous, and democratic."
