Haiti - Economy : 8th Meeting of the Inter-American Commission of Ports

From 10 to 13 September 2013, in Cartagena, Colombia, the Engineer Alix Célestin, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN) accompanied by Mrs. Ginelle Lambert Noël, attended the 8th Meeting of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP), an international forum, which brought together all those responsible for ports of regions Caribbean and South American, under the auspices of the Organization of American States (OAS).

Following the performance of the security of International Port of Port au Prince, the Director Alix Célestin, was invited to share the positive experience with the representatives of other member states. The theme developed "Haiti: development and port security, a success story."

The Forum allowed the representatives of the APN to promote the Haitian port space and projecting the vision of the administration Martelly-Lamothe in the development of this sector in Haiti, which must pass through the synergy of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP).

The comparative advantages of our maritime sites as well as government incentives to encourage new investment, were on the agenda of all meetings with donors and potential investors.

These approaches of the APN are part of the dynamics initiated by President Martelly to various government entities to put in place mechanisms to achieve prosperity. For APN, the finality is to reduce the rates of port passage , in order to alleviate the cost of food basket by a significant decrease in expenditure on imports.
