Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Laurent Lamothe, also Prime Minister, accompanied by some members of his Government, had a working session on Wednesday, with several representatives of the European Union (EU) in Haiti.

The Minister Lamothe has placed great emphasis on the need to identify the problems related to the progress of projects in their implementation phase, focusing on the speed required in the expropriation process regarding the construction of roads, field in which the EU is a major donor to Haiti.

"Too often, these are small details that block the progress of major projects," said Laurent Lamothe which highlights the availability of a funds of 43 million gourdes for the expropriation of 12 families occupying land in Delmas, on which the Government must build the new premises of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications.

The European Union funded, among others, to the tune of € 187 million the rehabilitation of the section Hinche/Saint-Raphael ; those of Lascahobas/Belladère and Croix des Bouquets/Jimani. João de Santana, the Head of EU Operations in Haiti, said that €112 million was available to support for 3 years a program of funding of public institutions.
