Haiti - Tourism : Things are moving in Tourism... 19/09/2013 13:07:10
Courtesy visit to the Diocese of Jacmel : Pierre-Michel Lafontant, Departmental Delegate Southeast and Mrs. Dithny Joan Raton, Director of Tourism South East, made a courtesy visit to Mgr. Launay Saturné to the diocese, during which they made a brief presentation on the status of projects in the department, including the project "Destination Jacmel." Mgr. Saturné appreciated the initiative to back on the scene the historic center of Jacmel and took the opportunity to outline the project of restoration of the Cathedral of Jacmel, severely damaged by the 2010 earthquake. It would be unthinkable, according to him, to work on the project of Jacmel, without thinking about the environment of the cathedral. Satisfied with this visit Mgr. Saturné said he was ready to assist the Government in the implementation of these projects. Meeting with restaurateurs of Gelée : Tuesday, Mrs. Karine Conde, Director Departmental South of Tourism, met the restaurateursof Gélée, on the management of work already done and the upcoming launch of the continuity of the redevelopment of the beach. Partnership with the National College of Engineers and Architects Haitians : Tuesday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism had a meeting with the National College of Engineers and Architects Haitians on the possibility of a partnership with the Ministry for the establishment of construction standards of tourist establishments. Meeting on the management of National Historical Park : On Wednesday, the Minister of Tourism, along Josette Darguste, Acting Minister of Culture, attended a meeting with Ms. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO and Ms Michäelle Jean, the UNESCO Special Envoy to Haiti. The meeting focused on the management of National Historical Park and the development of cultural and tourism programs. Meeting of CCT : Wednesday morning, took place a regular meeting of the Consultative Council of Tourism. The issues relating to Tourist Transport, the participation of Haiti in international tourism fairs, to the tourism week and meetings with airlines, were on the agenda. Tourist fees : On Wednesday, the Minister of Tourism met the Director of Immigration, around of tourist fees included in the Finance Bill 2013-2014, which will allow the Ministry in support of the budget allocated to it, to ensure Haiti's tourism promotion.
