Haiti - Social : Sophia Martelly at Centre d'Accueil of Carrefour

Thursday, the Office of the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, with the support of the Medical Directorate of the Employment Injury, Sickness and Maternity Insurance Office (OFATMA), mobilized its mobile clinic to provide auscultation sessions, medicine and hygiene kits to 218 children of the Centre d'Accueil of Carrefour (CAC).

Ms. Martelly, who was accompanied by Charles Jean Jacques, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST), took the opportunity to give her approval to the Rehabilitation Plan of CAC presented by engineer Wilson Laratte of the Unit of Housing Construction and of Public Buildings (UCLBP).

"The Ministry of Social Affairs, with the Rehabilitation Project of Centre d'Accueil of Carrefour which is falls within the framework of the family policy, of the Government has offered a golden opportunity to bring my full support to its social activities, which are the expression of the vision of the President of the Republic relating to the child policy," declared the First Lady, who warmly welcomed nearly a hundred children housed at CAC and did not hide her satisfaction to see the attention given to these children from disadvantaged backgrounds, to which we must give the taste of hope.

According to the Minister, Jean Jacques, the Ministry conducted a family policy, marginalized children found in the streets, valued at nearly 1,200 are all taken into account in relation to the social vision of the administration Martelly-Lamothe "The Centre d'Accueil de Transit of Delmas 3, will be inaugurated soon. We are currently in the medical and psychological evaluation of the newcomers for their grouping," has indicated the Minister who announced the increase of the capacity of the CAc, which will be equipped with various recreational areas.

The approach of the Ministry is to support the thousands of street children, by encouraging family planning on the side of parents that must be more aware of their responsibilities vis-à-vis their offspring, because the state can not apply to continuously pick up the children left to their fate given its limited resources, despite its efforts of its various social programs to the benefit of the population

"The session of auscultation, the operation of distribution of hygiene kits to children of CAC are two positive things," said for his part, Mayor of Carrefour, Jude Edouard Pierre, who includes this activity as part of 200th anniversary of the foundation of his commune.
