Haiti - Politic : Mexico proposes its program of identification of the diaspora as a model 26/09/2013 13:30:05 The Mexican Ambassador, Luis Manuel López Moreno, indicated that Mexico had set up since 30 years, an identification program of its nationals abroad by providing them with consular card, accepted by the host country. This enables better control of migration. Marc-Élie Nelson who was accompanied by Rodrigue Déloné, the Assistant Director of the Inter-Haitian Cooperation, immediately accepted the proposal and shared the experience of Mexico in this area, promising to continue the discussions in future meetings. Recall that this project of identification of the diaspora exists in Haiti since the administration of Edwin Parison, the holder MHAVE [2009-2011]. This project then intended to allow Haitians from abroad to vote in elections. In this sense, an agreement was signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the use of consular posts abroad. For his part, Minister Daniel Supplice [2011-2013], the successor of Edwin Parison had given a little more momentum to the project, giving priority to the identification of the diaspora before the vote. Discussions were undertaken with the National Identification Office (ONI) on the issue, which remains to this day a priority for MHAVE. HL/ HaitiLibre
