Haiti - Justice : Recruitment of a new Promotion of students Magistrates
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has officially launched the registration process for the recruitment of a new promotion of 60 student judges at the School of Magistrates (EMA). For the second consecutive year, 20 additional seats were added to the usual number of promotions of the school. "This is to provide all the courts of the country of judges trained and competent to fill all the deficiencies in the past, in the body of magistrates," explained Me Jean Renel Sanon the Minister of Justice, whose the Ministry is the parent body of the EMA.

The receipt of applications is now open until 31 January 2014, in the courts of the five Courts of Appeal of the Republic, with the exception of the Port-au-Prince, where applicants must go directly to EMA to submit their applications.

To be admitted to this course of 16 months, provided exclusively by the EMA, the candidate must meet the following criteria:

1. Being Haitian;
2. Hold a law degree or an equivalent qualification approved by the Rector of the State University of Haiti;
3. Be at least 23 years of age to 50 years;
4. Enjoy his civil and political rights;
5. Never have been sentenced to corporal and degrading punishment;
6. Enjoy good physical and mental health.

Recruitment will be done through a competition divided into two stages: a written test and an oral test. Both are scheduled for March 2014, while a first list of candidates retained after registration will be published in February 2014. The final list of candidates admitted to the EMA will be made public by the end of May 2014 and accepted will be then invited to meet with the Director of EMA.

Recall that the School of Magistrates is now governed by the law of 27 November 2007. It is the only national body responsible for training judges. Currently, the school is in the process to complete the formation of a class of 40 students-judges, whose 33% of women who are currently completing their professional training in the courts of the Republic.

Since the accession to power of President Martelly, EMA increased from 20 to 60 student judges by promotion. With the establishment of the Higher Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), called to perform the certification of all magistrates currently in office, the increase of effective to the EMA will facilitate the restructuring of the Haitian judiciary.

20 student judges have recently completed their training in Bordeaux, France. Back home, they were all appointed in different courts of the country.
