Haiti - Social : Ady Jean Gardy, calls for the mobilization of the Dominican media
In a letter addressed to the "Asociación Dominicana de Periodistas y Escritores" (ADPE) and to the "Federación Latinoamericana de Trabajadores de la Comunicación Social" (FELATRACS), Ady Jean Gardy, the President of the Federation of Haitian Press (FPH), asks these organizations to mobilize massively against the decision rendered September 23, 2013 by the Constitutional Court Dominican to withdraw citizenship to the descendants of foreign born in the Dominican Republic after 1929, on the basis that their parents were considered "in transit", which targets more than 200,000 descendants of Haitian immigrants.

This decision according to Ady Jean Gardy is a flagrant violation of the 1961 Convention of the United Nations which in Articles 1-10 condemns this kind of discriminatory legislation forcing citizens of a country to become stateless "[...] This resolution against the Haitian diaspora in the Dominican Republic must be swept away."

He also mentioned in his letter, article 15 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that everyone has the right to a nationality and that denounces the regime of stateless. The decision of the Dominican Supreme Court is according to Jean Gardy "another attempt to racial cleansing, a new massacre against the identity of thousands of children and Dominican citizens [...] under the pretext of Haitian origin."

The President of the FPH finally denounced the ingratitude of Dominicans which retroactively erase the nationality of their own citizens "forgetting that in 1929 the entire Haitian population was mobilized to send massive aid to the Dominican people devastated by a series of deadly hurricanes. In 1929 President Louis Eugène Roy brought personally to the Dominican government an unforgettable immense assistance. In 2013 the decision of the Supreme Court Dominican is ashameful and unacceptable act."

Ady Jean Gardy states that the Federation of Haitian Media, plans to organize a series of meetings at the level of both country in collaboration with the Dominican media sector, to obtain in the future the invalidity of this decision.
