Haiti - Social : Celebration of the 2nd International Day of the Girl Child

Friday, October 11, at Multipurpose Training Centre of the Croix-des-Bouquets, Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, participated in activities marking the celebration of the 2nd International Day of the Girl Child.

More than 300 girls from various schools in the Croix-des-Bouquets, attended the activities that were preceded by a peaceful march organized by Plan Haiti for the occasion.

Through songs, texts, poems, skits, girls demanded respect for their rights and urged the authorities to address their situation. Moreover, during their various interventions, representatives of women's and youth organizations, called for a sustainable improvement of the living conditions of girls, awareness on their situation and their integration into society.

Minister Racine, emphasized the importance of this celebration, which showcases the girls and their place in Haitian society while congratulating Plan Haiti for its commitment in favor of girls of our country.

Ms. Racine has also emphasized on the atmosphere in the family, which should foster the emergence of women and citizens ready to serve their country, before promising to continue to support and mentor girls of Haiti, without forgetting to highlight the important role of parents in the education of their children, which should consider them as models.
