Haiti - Religion : Screening-discussion «Konesans vodou»
Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 4:30 pm the nowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL) will host in its multipurpose room the screening of movie documentary "Konesans vodou" directed by Lys Ambroise and Edwige Balutansky on Haitian voodoo. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmakers and some of the players in the movie.

The movie documentary "Konesans voodoo" condenses hours of conversations with tradition bearers. You will not meet all but Max, Euvonie, Erol, Rachel, Ginette, Jessie, Eddy, the servants of lakous, will be happy to share a moment with you.

When the Support Program for Strengthening of Culture and Art for Economic and Social Development of Haiti (ARCADE) has launched a call for proposals for projects to protect the intangible and tangible heritage, Lys Ambroise and Edwige Balutansky foresaw the possibility to realize their old dream : that to collect evidence on the testimonials on the talk, music and Haitian traditions. Neither is vodouisan, yet they understand that the culture of a people should be respected and valued. They know that Haiti can not lick his tears, as its citizens have not learned to get to know and respect.

Learn more about the two directors :
Lys Ambroise, born in Haiti June 29, 1944, has lived in France from the age of 13 years until his returnes to country in 1974. Edwige Balutansky, born in Haiti May 14, 1949, completed his university studies in the United States (Comparative Literature), and returned to Haiti in 1987, after having lived in several countries in Latin America (Peru, Mexico, Nicaragua).
