Haiti - Social : Inauguration of the first Transit Center for street children
Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, inaugurated the Transit Centre for street children located in Delmas 3. This, the first of its kind, which can accommodate about 400 children, participates in the vision of the Head of State to eradicate the phenomenon of street children and work so that the rights of the latter are respected "Children have dreams and deserve to be surrounded by parental love, family protection and a stable educational environment for better grow and integrate into society."

The inauguration ceremony, which was attended by the various project stakeholders, including Charles Jean Jacques, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, Ms. Arielle Jeanty Villedrouin, Director of Social Welfare, the Divisional Commissioner, Rony Bazil Antoine, Head of child Protection Brigade (BPM) and representatives national and international organizations partners in the fight for the protection of children has allowed the authorities to take stock of the situation of these children and the need for the state to intervene to overcome this phenomenon who, according to the President Martelly, "appeals to the collective consciousness and civic responsibility."



"This center and its program will allow children to learn to live in society. They will receive medical care and accompaniments education, sport and personal development,"
stressed Charles Jean Jacques, who took the opportunity to remind them that they are no longer alone and that the State was taking its responsibilities.

"My Presidency considers the creation of these centers as an act of social justice, which will provide a better quality of life for these young people," said the Head of State, adding that these centers will introduce in the school system, a group of children who were excluded from school because of his living conditions.

The trasit center of Delmas 3 Centre already has fifty youth and includes : a library, a music room, recreation room and computer lab, play areas, an infirmary. Please note that children are collected by the Institute of Welfare and Research (IBESR) and BPM.



President Martelly remains committed to ensure that no child is left out of the school system and to "expand and strengthen the education program for all."
