Haiti - Culture : Eye towards... the Creole worlds
From November 19 to December 3, 2013 will be held the 32th Film Festival of Val-de-Marne (France) "Eye towards... the Creole worlds" (L'oeil vers... les mondes créoles). The collective organizer has chosen this year to take an interest on the cinemas of Creole to French language base cultures : Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Haiti, Martinique, Mauritius, New Caledonia, Reunion. 20 movies gathered in 16 programs will be screnned in 12 cities.

Programming of Haitian movies :

L’évangile du cochon créole of Michelange Quay – Haiti 2004 – 19 min.
A poem documentary about Haiti, its contradictions and its destiny.

Haiti, black island, lonely, abandoned to his poverty. Madam, a white woman, lives in its colonial phantasms where she teaches and nourishes the damned of the land. An original cinematic experience that brings us deep into the material and spiritual suffering of the first Black Republic.

Royal Bonbon of Charles Najman – Haiti 2003 – 1h25 – VOST
A man wanders through the streets of Cap-Haitien. He thinks he's the King Christophe, the first sovereign of the New World, a former slave and liberator of Haiti in 1804. Out of town, he takes refuge in the ruins of the magnificent castle Sanssouci along with Thimothée, a street urchin he took under his wing. There, he reconstructs a junk "court" and reign through the absurd.
