Haiti - Politic : 7 new community restaurants announced for the North
Saturday, as part of the 3rd Edition of "Gouvènman an lakay ou" program, Charles Jean Jacques, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST), in his acclaimed speech, put the emphasis on social policy of the Administration Martelly-Lamothe whose the program "Ede Pèp" and the Project of establishment of community restaurants across the country, are the engine.


"500 Hot meals are served Monday through Friday at each
community restaurant," said the Minister, who specified that "11 restaurants operating across the Northern Department, in particular in Plaisance, Limbé, Limonade, Grande Rivière du Nord, Morne Rouge, Fort-Bourgeois, Fourgeolle, Nan Banann. 3 Community restaurants were inaugurated in Milot, Petite-Anse et à Carrefour des Pères, on the occasion of the 210th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Vertières."

Prepared in very hygienic conditions by professional cooks, 5,500 hot meals are offered through these 11 Community restaurants implement in the municipalities and communal sections where people face the problem of hunger and live in greater poverty. A symbolic contribution of 10 gourdes is required for the sustainability of the program.

Minister Jean Jacques indicated that in community restaurants, we experiment a single model of kitchen, which will soon be transformed into cooperative restaurant able to develop entrepreneurship among the most vulnerable populations, adding that "The Ministry works hard to also implement community bakeries across the country. And the town of Milot is among the main beneficiaries of this program."

The Minister announced that 7 new community restaurants will soon be implemented in Cap-Haitien, notamment à St Michel, Quartier Morin, Acul du Nord, Dondon, Ranquitte, Dèyè Katye, Cite Lescot and to La Fossette. He also announced the upcoming launch of the rehabilitation work of the communal Asylum of Sainte Philomèn eand called to the collaboration of mayors, to the program of assistance to seniors of that Asylum communale.
