Haiti - Vertières : President Martelly pays tribute to our ancestors
Monday, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife, Sophia Martelly and Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, commemorated in Cap-Haitien, the 210 years of the Battle of Vertières, which saw the victory of the indigenous Army on that of Napoleon Bonaparte, 18 November 1803.

Louis N. The ceremony brought together representatives of the Government, Parliament, the Judiciary, the clergy, the university, the employers and local organizations, continued to Vertières under the banner of national unity.

In his speech for the occasion, the Head of State has preached national unity, the commitment of dialogue between all sectors of society and urged the Haitian people to stand together to build a more just and inclusive society.

"That dialogue, tolerance, understanding, harmony, love of country are our guides so that we can be the worthy son of our ancestors and so that we can say one day with pride and satisfaction, they had not fought in vain, that they did not die for nothing.

That the peace, order and discipline prevail in the country! We must stop destroy, it's time, it's time to build! Our ancestors left us a State, we must make a Nation of it !"
