The dynamism of Jacmel must also go through a varied cultural offer, sporting, event, tourism and trade, adapted to the needs of its residents and visitors. It is in this perspective that Ms. Dithny Joan Raton, the Departmental Director of Tourism South East, recently met at the initiative of Michel Gehy, the President of the Tourist Association of the South-East of Haiti, Jean Cyril Pressoir, Managing Director of the travel agency Tour-Haïti, to discuss the establishment of tourist packages presenting a unique product in Haiti : the Carnival of Jacmel.
Indeed, during the National Carnival of Jacmel, which takes place the weekend before the three days fat, the whole city is engaged in a festival of dance and music. An authentic and official parade presenting the sampling of carnival is offered to the revelers for more than 14 hours non-stop.
However, the city of Jacmel, who also organizes the Carnival during the 3 days fat, also offers the possibility, in the words of Mr. Cyril Pressoir, to make "friendly tourism" around a traditional carnival in the historical center "It will be a vendible product to national and international visitors as a unique tourist experience."
A whole series of suggestions and activities are proposed by the representative of the Tourism South East include: workshops for children and adults, food booths, traditional masked ball, photo exhibitions of Carnival of Jacmel through time, dance folk, excursions, video projections of carnivals in the world...
The tourist circuit of Jacmel discovery, combined with the traditional Carnival must be accompanied by an national and international promotional campaign and awareness.
