Haiti - Politic : Distribution of agricultural tools to cultivators of Cornillon/Grand-Bois

Saturday, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture Natural Resources and Rural Development, of Departmental Delegate West, Gonzague Day, went to Cornillon/Grand-Bois in the West Department, Borough of Croix-des-Bouquets, on the occasion of the festivities marking the 125th anniversary of the founding of this town where he was warmly welcomed and walked among the population over several kilometers.

The Mayor of the City, Lionel Ducasse, and Deputy of Cornillon/Grand-Bois, Lamarre Baptiste, took the opportunity to present to the President the main demands of the inhabitants of the Commune, the lack of adequate health facilities and poor state of 52 km of road connecting Cornillon to Thomazeau, problems faced by the 73,000 residents of this town.

The Head of State, for whom agricultural recovery is a priority, took advantage of this visit to distribute to farmers a lot of agricultural tools in this commune where the economy is mainly based on the cultivation of fruit and the coffee production and reiterated to the population, his firm determination to accompany them to increase their harvests.

In addition, the President Martelly has offered three university scholarships to young people of the area.
