Monday, during a press conference, Jean Marie Altéma,, Coordinator of the unit e-governance in the Office of Prime Minister, explained that in order to ensure transparency in public administration, and improve services and living conditions of the population the government is convinced that the use of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) is essential to improve the quality of services offered to the population.

Jean Marie Altéma, cited in particular the installation of a video conferencing system at the National Palace, in ministries and the 10 departmental delegations of the countrywhich allows the senior civil state to participate in virtual meetings and make great decisions to engage the nation without having to move. Stressing that these modern communication tools are also useful in crisis situation, where for the first time, in Council of Ministers, the delegates and departmental officials of the National Police and Civil Protection could draw, in turn, the balance of their respective departments.

He recalled that a forum on the standardization and harmonization of government technology infrastructure, has recently been organized, which allowed participants to share their experiences and learn the integration strategies of Haitian experts, of Cisco and Dell among other.

In addition, Mr. Altéma, indicated that a mapping system with geo-referenced information on public institutions will soon be launched to enable citizens to have access to the location of public institutions on the territory national. In addition, "MapHaiti" a pilot application will enable citizens to access information in real time on projects executed by the Fund of Economic and Social Assistance (FAES).

The Head of Government has already launched a program to install internet in public schools, which has allowed about forty high schools to be connect to the Internet and more than twenty cyber centers have already been installed across the country in the communes among others of : Dame-Marie, Pétion-Ville, Delmas, les Cayes, Port-de-Paix. Youth were also trained to manage these Cyber Centres.

The visit of Laurent Lamothe in California https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9903-haiti-technology-prime-minister-tour-in-california.html and that of nternational corporations in Haiti sush as Microsoft, Dell and Cisco show the government's interest to find the best opportunities for Haiti in the ICT sector. Thanks to the efforts of the Unit e-Governance, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Education and Microsoft to improve the access and use of technology in the Haitian educational environment. It essentially comprises : the
digital access in the Haitian educational environment; online training through access to Microsoft IT Academy ; free access to emails and Microsoft product licenses and continuing education of teachers.

Recall that the main objective of e-governance is to bring government closer to citizens through the use of technology, provide the Government with effective means to help the decision and also improve the internal functioning of public institutions. This is made possible through a platform available. A stable and secure infrastructure that allows host applications, databases, websites that aid institutional to better serve the public.
