Haiti - Education : The Minister Manigat justify the takeover of high schools
Thursday, following the circular declaring a state of emergency regarding the operation of high schools in the Republic and the takeover by the Ministry of Education of High Schools https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12341-haiti-education-management-of-high-schools-the-ministry-decreed-the-state-of-emergency.html Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education has justified the correctness of the decision and denounced any manipulation to disrupt the operation of public schools.

It is in this perspective that the Directors of educational institutions have to leave for training [...] in order to enhance their skills in the management of high schools that need to be training centers of reference where quality education is dispensed."

The continuing education process, lasting at least 9 weeks, will begin Monday, October 27 for 36 directors of high schools in the Western Department. In the meantime, officials from the Ministry will be responsible for the management of the institutions concerned until the directors are back. High Schools involved are : Cent Cinquantenaire ; Jacques 1er of the Croix-des-Bouquets ; Faustin Soulouque ; Antenor Firmin ; National of Montrouis ; Anacaona of Léogane ; Henry Christophe of Diquini ; Fito Gracia of Grand-Goâve ; Horatius Laventure ; Jean Marie Vincent ; Alexandre Pétion ; National of Dumay ; National of Carrefour Feuilles ; Toussaint Louverture ; of the Anse-à-Galets ; Charles Bélair of the Arcahaie ; of Cité Soleil ; Jacques Roumain ; of la Saline ; of Cabaret ; National of Gros Mangles ; of Trouin ; Roseline Vaval ; Technique Antoine and Georges Izméry ; Benoit Batraville ; Pierre Eustache Daniel Fignolé ; Fritz Pierre Louis (P.M) ; Communautaire Guy Francois Malary ; of Sibert ; Amitié of Ganthier ; Jérémie Eliaser of Cazale , of Fond-Verrettes ; Cornillon Grand Bois ; Pointe-à-Raquettes ; Edmond Laforet and the Lycée Louis Joseph Janvier.

The Minister added that after the Directors, it will be the turn of censors and after teachers, who will have to follow other training series to help them better perform their function.

The Minister emphasized that "Contrary the ideas spread by some, the decision is not intended to penalize or revoke the directors of these educational institutions," taking advantage to denounce any manipulation by persons who are resistance to change and improve the teaching-learning process or that make use of false pretexts to make students take to the streets.

Appealing for calm and serenity, the Minister Manigat asked students and parents to understand that everything will be done in their interest, in the interest of the Haitian school and through the whole of society believing that "renovate public education today, in Haiti, whatever may be the level considered, is both challenging and implications."
