Geologist Claude Prepetit, Director General of the Bureau of Mines and Energy, confirmed Monday that the shock can not be attributed to any of the known major faults, which reveals a certain seismic activity in the Central Plateau considered until now as the safest region in Haiti.
It recommends that the authorities conduct studies to determine if there is a major flaw in the region, highlighting the consequences of an intensity 7 earthquake on the Richter scale on infrastructure such as dam and the Péligre power station and the population...
