Haiti - FLASH : Terror in Savane Pistache, houses of police officers burned
Following the police operation on December 21st in connection with the investigation into the assassination attempt of Éric Jean Baptiste, Secretary General of the Rassemblement des Démocrates National Progressive (RDNP) https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-25269-icihaiti-politics-eric-jean-baptiste-takes-the-lead-of-the-rdnp.html which allowed the arrest of 17 suspects https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26480-haiti-news-zapping.html of which the concubine of the powerful and dangerous Chief of Gang "Tije", the members of his heavily armed Gang demanded the liberation of the concubine of their Chief and exerted violent reprisals.

After setting fire to the sub-police station of the street Monseigneur Guilloux extended, to Savane Pistache (2nd district of Port-au-Prince) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-26488-haiti-news-zapping.html they have decided to burn down police officers houses resident in this neighborhood.

Residents of the area remained closed at home in fear, fearing for their lives and those of their families while sporadic shooting of automatic weapons caused panic and terror among the population. Special units of the Haitian National Police intervened to restore order, bravely confronting these dangerous bandits.

Several cars were burned and houses looted according to several witnesses from the neighborhood whose police finally regained control.

No official balance sheet has been communicated so far by the authorities.
