In his speech for the occasion, the Head of Government declared "The Haitian people join my voice and that of my government in expressing their deep sadness on the occasion of this departure which affects the Christian community" saluting "the departure of a great man of history, an outstanding pedagogue, an eminent intellectual and a great defender of universal moral values." "[...] His passing is a great loss for the Catholic Church and for all Christians around the world.
