Haiti - Economy : Signing in Spain, of a agreement to protect investments 18/11/2012 10:32:26
Saturday in the context of XXII Ibero-American Summit, José Manuel García-Margallo, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and his Haitian counterpart, Pierre Richard Casimir, have signed the Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Haiti.
"The signing of this bilateral agreement is another example of the great time that through the relationship between the two countries," reported the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a note, pointing out that Spain is currently the third largest bilateral donor in the country, just behind the United States and Canada "the agreement will allow to increase the legal security of investments, to include equal treatment clauses, of guarantees to transfer investment income and for cases of expropriation, as well as systems of dispute resolution, that might arise [...] This agreement will strengthen the participation of Spanish companies in of reconstruction projects in sectors such as construction, engineering, water and sanitation and will contribute significantly to the recovery of Haiti."
