Haiti - Social : Social programs for the elderly and disabled 27/02/2013 08:30:24 The Head of Government deplored that "57% of the Haitian population still lives in extreme poverty," noting that the program "Ede Pèp" was designed to fight against poverty and hunger in the country while participating in agricultural recovery, through the purchase of local food. The Prime Minister also announced the upcoming launch of other social programs to alleviate the suffering of many vulnerable groups of society, such as the elderly and the disabled. "A pension program will be launched to the benefit of 65,000 elderly living in different areas of the country," also announcing the implementation of another program "Kore Andikape", where 25,000 people with disabilities will be supported by the State. The Head of Government took the opportunity to launch a warning to potential fraudsters, who intend to steal the money from the State stating that "No cases of corruption will not be tolerated in my Government," which recalled the establishment, February 25, 2013, of an anti-corruption cell, responsible for thinking about the strategies to put in place to thwart the acts of corruption committed within the major projects implemented by the Administration Martelly-Lamothe.
