Haiti - Elections : Tabling of electoral bill late 02/07/2013 10:05:08
Sauveur Pierre Etienne, the Coordinator of the OPL said he was not surprised by the delay, saying that the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP) is now leading the country to chaos "what it prepares, this is not an election, not a coup through the ballot box [...]" Same absence of surprise for Paul Denis, the former Minister of Justice in the Préval government who seesin this new delay "the unwillingness of Michel Martelly to hold elections in the country..." On the sidelines of his participation in the eighth Petrocaribe Summit in Nicaragua, President Martelly has denied the allegations claiming that the Government does not want to organize elections this year "It's bad to say that the President does not want elections," recalling that he had waited nearly seven months the names of three representatives of the legislative branch. "Do you want the Head of Government and I, we enter in the business of CTCEP to take the process personally in hand ? [...] It is not my role [...] It's the electoral council that organizes elections [...] We are here to provide the necessary means." Also on a radio sation of the capital, the Head of State stated that more than 300 million gourdes had been put at the disposal of CTCEP, to advance towards the next elections.
