Haiti - Tourism : Multi-destination trips, no agreement between TCI and Haiti
On Thursday, Prime Minister of Turk and Caicos Island (TCI), Rufus Ewing, met Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Haitian Minister of Tourism, to discuss areas to increase tourism between the two country.

However, before the meeting in the afternoon with the Minister Villedrouin, Rufus Ewing at a press conference, responding to a question about the information published in some media reporting that the Minister of Tourism of Haiti, came in Turks and Caicos Islands to sign a bilateral agreement on tourism between the two country, answer clearly that his government had no intention at present to sign a memorandum of understanding with Haiti regarding the multi-destination tourism.

The Prime Minister of TCI reiterated his government's position according to which it intended to focus on the development of the tourism product of TCI first, before turning to other countries such as Haiti "We have Grand Turk, South Caicos and Caicos Islands that we have put on the market [...] Our focus in terms of promoting tourism will be focusing on the Turks and Caicos’ family islands... we would like to have more tourists coming from Haiti via Air France and the like, but those will happen naturally."

Rufus Ewing pointed out that if there were possibilities to establish a one day multi-destination package, between TCI and Haiti, it was something for the private sector. "It is not a matter for the Government at this point in time."
