Haiti - Tourism : 100 brand new touristic taxis !
On Thursday, the President Michel Martelly, in the presence of Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, Charles Castel, Governor of the Central Bank (BRH), leaders of the National Bank of Credit (BNC) and of the Banque Populaire Haïtienne (BPH), of President of Tourist associations Haiti and of representatives of the Association of tourist taxi drivers, proceeded, to the Launch of Support Program to the Associations of Tourist Taxi Drivers.

The objective of this program is to strengthen the ability of taxi drivers operating at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in order to provide better service to customers, especially foreign tourists. This program, equipped 100 vehicles worth $2 million, which benefits from the support of the BRH, BNC and BPH, will allow 100 drivers, members of the Association of Drivers Guide of Haiti and of the Association of Independent Drivers for Development, to receive a new vehicle, financed by a loan.

Charles Castel, congratulated the Head of State for his various measures aimed at support the sector and renewed the commitment of the BRH to continue working to increase access to credit for Haitian professionals.



President Martelly thanked the officials of the BRH, BNC and BPH for their involvement in the program and urged the beneficiaries to adopt a responsible attitude by repaying the loan on time that is granted to them. He also urged the Ministry of Tourism to continue to increase the tourism infrastructure in the country and further boost the sector.

For her part, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin said she was convinced that the beneficiaries will now have the ability to provide a service to the dimension of expectations of the Haitian tourism sector and promised full support of his ministry in the accompanying of these professionals to make them more efficient by providing the necessary training in order to better organize tourist transport, a considerable element in the chain of service offered by a tourist destination.

For their part, the beneficiaries did not fail to thank the Head of State for this innovative initiative that will contribute to the development of the transport sector.
