Haiti - Social : Governmental Commission for the Binational Dialogue

The general Secretariat of the Presidency inform the nation in general that, in accordance with what was agreed between the Haitian and Dominican authorities in the recent Petrocaribe summit in Venezuela December 17, 2013, was formed the Governmental Commission for the Binational Dialogue.

This commission is composed of 5 members : of Prime Minister, Mr. Laurent Salvador Lamothe, of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pierre Richard Casimir, of Minister of Commerce, Mr. Wilson Laleau, of Minister of Interior, Mr. David Bazile and Mr. Nesmy Manigat.

The mandate of the commission is to find a consensus and acceptable solutions in order to clear any dispute between the two countries on migration issues, commercial exchanges, border security and regularization of binational markets.

Authorities on both sides of the island have agreed, always in the spirit of the agreement of December 17, 2013, for representatives of the European Union, Venezuela, CARICOM, the United Nations and a member of the Haitian private sector, the economist Ms. Norma Powell, are present as observers in the discussions between the two parties whose the first series is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in Ouanaminthe.

Haitian and Dominican authorities have made a firm commitment to amicably resolve the various problems between the two countries.
