Haiti - Security : Bike Patrol, a new course at the Police Training School

7 months after the first release of the Community Bike Brigade, a unit of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), in the streets of Croix-des-Bouquets (West), then Petion-Ville, Delmas and Cité Soleil... https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9542-haiti-security-police-bicycle-patrol-in-cite-soleil.html 43 police officers, who have received specialized training, patrol today in Mountain Bike (MTB) in 6 communes of Haiti.
Given the satisfactory results on the ground, the initiators of this brigade (agents of the UNPOL) have proposed to the responsible of the National School of Police (ENP) to train instructors in this new discipline so that the latter can in turn train the police cadets.
Thus, in order to strengthen the community police, a special curriculum was introduced into the curriculum of the ENP. In this context, 14 trainers of the ENP recently given a 5-day training at the Police Academy, for future instructors on the methods of teaching of principles of the Bike Brigade. After the theoretical courses, the instructors are trained on their MTB at the Police Academy at Frères, experimenting various types of terrain.
The officers of the 25th promotion, will be the first beneficiaries of this new formation (10% theoretical and 90% practical).
Recall that in the framework of Plan of Development 2012-2016 PNH, Haiti should have 15,000 police officers by 2016, including a hundred bicycle officers.
