Friday at the Police Academy in Frères, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, participated in the graduation ceremony of the 24th promotion of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in the presence, among other of Dieuseul Desras Simon, President of the Senate, Me Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Godson Orélus, Director General of the National Police of Haiti and the Director of the National Academy of Police, the Divisional Commissioner Francène Moreau.

Speaking to the new police officers, the Head of State insisted on the heavy responsibility that incumbent to the forces under their mission to protect and serve the population "It is necessary that each of you represents an impregnable rampart which itself discourages those who still let themselves be drawn into dishonest and destructive acts of our society. You are not only guardians of peace and security in the city, you are also and initially the builders of a new nation, the one I invite all the institutions of this country."

Recalling the commitments of his administration to regulate and professionalize the police, the President Martelly urged new graduates to serve the homeland with honor and dignity. "I never cease to improve the working conditions our police officers and I am convinced that each of them will give the best of himself to protect and serve the population."
