Haiti - Agriculture : Towards wine production in Haiti 05/02/2014 10:02:45
Mario Perez, Director of the Dominican Institute of Grape, received the visit of Alfredo Mena Pantaleón representative of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and Phillipho Pszcolkowski professor in the Department of Pomology and oenology of the University of Chile about growing grapes and its derivatives. Have also participated in this meeting Haitian entrepreneurs Patrick Michel and Charle Monde. It was question particularly of growing vines in Haiti, where similar conditions to the Southwest of the Dominican Republic exist. Mr. Pszcolkowski, who performed late January, an exploratory mission in Haiti in the department of South and Nippes, said he expected that the territorial conditions in Haiti, will achieve the desired success in the viticulture to produce a quality wine, such as being developed in the Dominican Republic. During this meeting an agreement was reached, where it is stated inter alia that Dominican technicians will provide advice on the cultivation of vines in the south of Haiti, for the production of wine.
