Haiti - Politic : Towards the Strengthening of the Petrocaribe program
Thursday, as part of regular follow-up meetings of the Joint Haiti-Venezuela Commission, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Laurent Lamothe, also Prime Minister met at his office, Bernardo Alvarez, both President of the Petrocaribe funds and Secretary General of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

In this working session, the parties have set themself the guarantors of the indefectible historical support of their respective people. The Minister Lamothe, warmly congratulated the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, including the late Hugo Chavez, for the model and the quality of cooperation with Haiti.

The discussions focused inter alia on the national social assistance programs designed by the Administration Martelly and Lamothe Government. The focus has mainly been put on the program of home repair and construction of thousands of housing units, everywhere across the country to help the poor. He was mentionned "the establishment of mechanisms to accelerate the process of building of social housing participates in the firm determination of the government team to arrive at the end of the quinquennium of President Martelly, to a significant reduction of extreme poverty."

Bernardo Alvarez, reaffirming the commitment of the administration of President Nicolas Maduro, to continue to support the Haitian government in the reconstruction process of the country through the Petrocaribe, reported on many social programs implemented by the Martelly/Lamothe team, with the intention to leave Haiti of the red zone of extreme poverty.

On the other hand, this important meeting was also intended to work to strengthen the clauses of the Petrocaribe agreement and to define a set of bilateral mechanisms to boost the program to provide the most needy with better living conditions.

Wilson Laleau, Minister of Economy and Finance Minister also acting Minister of Trade and Industry, Pierre Richard Casimir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Lecorps, Director General of the Bureau of Monetization of Programs to Development Assistance (BMPAD), present at the meeting, have actively participated in discussions alongside the Venezuelan Ambassador accredited to Haiti, Pedro Gonzalez Canino.

Laurent Lamothe and Bernardo Alvarez, havea greed to strengthen the Petrocaribe program, to continue to ensure the preferential option for the poor.
