The National Police of Haiti (PNH) launched in Gonaives, shortly before the Carnival a second Bike-Patrol brigade (effective of 8 agents) in this department, after that of Saint Marc (7 agents) on February 6.

"This new Bike-Patrol brigade fits into the framework of strengthening the police force. It gives a new dimension to the police, by bringing it closer of the population," indicated Frantz Mathurin the Departmental Director of the PNH, noting that this approximation will be effective only to one condition : good collaboration between the public and the PNH with the aim of strengthening security."

For Nharebat Intchasso, Head of the Regional Office of MINUSTAH in Artibonite "the Bike-Patrol brigade fits in the Development Plan of the PNH (2012-2015) as designed by the Haitian government and MINUSTAH," which plans to equip the police force of adequate tools to enable it to fulfill its mission of protection and services to the people.

For Yachim Yacouba Maiga, Chief Civil Affairs section of MINUSTAH in this department, "this new brigade is a tool implemented in the context of the police of proximity in the region."
