Haïti - Carnaval 2014 : New partial balance sheet + «I congratulate the Gonaïviens» dixit Martelly

The President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, presents its sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the success of the national carnival. Congratulations are specifically addressed to the Gonaïviens and hundreds of thousands of revelers who celebrated in solidarity and mutual respect during the three days fat.

At the end of the 3 Day Fat in Gonaives, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly declared "I congratulate the Gonaïviens who have shown great civility and compassion, at the national carnival." ‪

The Head of State also welcomes the efforts of the agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) who have done a tremendous job to facilitate the smooth running of these festivities, indicating that this popular event has had a positive impact in terms of road infrastructure for the department of Artibonite, and that the Government Martelly-Lmaothe disbursed U.S. $ 5 million to build or repair certain streets and rehabilitate some sights in the fourth largest city, Gonaïves.

After Les Cayes and Cap-Haïtien, it is the third consecutive year that the National Carnival was relocated, this initiative was strongly applauded by the population, also allowing local and foreign tourists to visit the historic sites and monuments of our different regions. It also represents an important step in the efforts of those in power to project an attractive image of the country and to encourage foreigners to visit Haiti regularly and find business opportunities.

According to a new partial balance sheet reported by Eddy Sylvain Techlet, regional spokesman for the PNH there would have been during the three fat days 472 wounded. 49 arrests, 12 were released.
