Haiti - Economy : Binational Project to build a Dry Port 18/03/2014 11:38:26
Fernando Capellan, President of Group M and of the Industrial Development Company (CODEVI), located in the free zone of Ouanaminthe in Haiti, invited by the Dominican authorities to the table of binational dialogue as a business representative, informed that during the last round of negotiations, the Dominican party had proposed to build a dry port in Manzanillo and the Haitian part in Fort-Liberté, in order to facilitate and reduce the costs of trade between the two countries. At the next meeting, it should be question of progress on the details of the location and the necessary investments in this important project which would involve the construction of a bridge linking the Northwest Dominican with northern Haiti, where will be built a great platform to collect the goods transferred from the pier Manzanillo. Entrepreneurs of both countries believe that with this project, they will be able to better exploit the business potential, reduce transportation costs and thus offer products at the best prices for the population.
