Haiti - Social : Beginning of the construction of the public market of Fontamara
Tuesday construction works of the public market of Fontamara, commonly called "Fish Market", funded by the Treasury through the Petrocaribe funds have started to the satisfaction of the local population.

On a plot of 11,000 square meters, the public market of Fontamara, a popular neighborhood located in the southern Port-au-Prince, will be built over 7000 meters. This vast market, meeting all international standards of construction, will allow hundreds of retailers and merchants to sell in a modern, clean space, airy and above all safely.

With multiple platforms and tables for the sale of goods, the market of Fontamara include among others: ample parking (car and motorcycle) with a fuel tank, a safe warehouse, cafeteria of 4 rooms, toilet blocks, a water tank and waste containers. A modern beach will be also developped.




Merchants have expressed their contentment and thanked the Administration Martelly and Lamothe Government for this great initiative.

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, reiterated its interest to make of the preferential option for the poor, its priority, by supporting all activities aimed at improving the living conditions of the Haitian people throughout the country.
