Haiti - Education : Works Progress of Lycées Alexandre Pétion and Toussaint Louverture

As part of the reconstruction of the State buildings destroyed or heavily damaged by the earthquake of January 12, 2010, the major reconstruction works of lycées Alexandre Pétion and Toussaint Louverture located in the center of the capital are progressing satisfactorily. More than 8 months after the start, progress is estimated at over 25%.

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, works in collaboration with technicians in charge of the reconstruction of these two iconic Lycées of Haiti for their inauguration in January 2015.

The work of these institutions, financed by the "Petrocaribe" funds to the tune of 15 million U.S. dollars, are made in compliance with international standards of construction. These two lycées will each have among other things: air-conditioned classrooms, auditoriums, laboratories of foreign language, chemistry and physics, a computer lab on the cutting edge of technology, libraries and sports fields (football, basketball and volleyball) and parking.

The Head of Government has clearly expressed its satisfaction with the progress of this work, "It should be noted that the change advocated by the administration Martelly and my Government must inevitably pass through education, which is one of the priority axes of any society in the process of sustainable development."
