Haiti - Elections : Japan donated 120,000 dollars for ONI
Friday, as part of the Project of modernization and integration of the civil registry in Haiti, Japan, represented by the Ambassador of Japan in Haiti, Katsuyoshi Tamura and the Organization of American States (OAS), represented by Frédéric Bolduc the Special Representative of the OAS in Haiti, have signed a grant agreement amounting to 120,000 U.S. dollars for the improvement of services of National Identification Office (ONI), to contribute to good electoral process, leading up to the elections scheduled by the end of this year in Haiti. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10722-haiti-flash-elections-on-october-26-2014.html

Ambassador Katsuyoshi Tamura, explained that the donation of his country, will strengthen democracy in Haiti and allow the OAS [main technical partner of ONIwho will manage these funds] on the one hand, to install a call center so that voters can get information about the status of their National Identification Card (CIN) without having to move, especially for people living in remote and other hand, will help support the information and awareness campaign of ONI during the electoral period.

Japanese diplomat expressed hope that honest and transparent elections be conducted this year in Haiti, in order to show an example of unity and solidarity strong democratic Nation...
