Haiti - Agriculture : Signature of an agreement to increase rice production in Haiti 23/04/2014 12:01:24
While the President Michel Martelly, continues his official visit to Taiwan, Duly Brutus, the Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs signed with his Taiwanese counterpart David Lin, an agreement on technical assistance of Taiwan (Republic of China), for the increase in rice production in Haiti.
Chancellor David Lin said he hoped that this program
lasting 4 years, in which is among other provided the creation of a National Center for Rice Research in Haiti, will enable Haiti to cope with its problems of food security, while strengthening the bilateral relationship.
One objective of this cooperation program, is to get to 2,000 metric tons per year rice production in the Artibonite valley, which is expected to benefit approximately 51,000 families.
