Haiti - Tourism : Things are moving everywhere !
5,000 students sensitized to Tourist Development North
Thursday, as part of the strategy of the Northern Regional Office of the Ministry of Tourism to invite the population to contribute to the development of the Tourist Destination North in an inclusive and sustainable way, Ms. Dieudonne LumaNorthern Regional Director of the Ministry in the presence of Ms Maryse Noël, Director General of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries, Justin Metellus,
Director of the Ministry of Education and the Metropolitan Archbishop of Cap-Haitien, Mr. Bishop Louis Kébreau, has organized a large forum to raise awareness for more than 5,000 students in classes Rhéto and Philo of Communes of Cap-Haïtien, Milot, Plaine du Nord, Limbé, Limonade, Acul du Nord and from the Grande-Rivière du Nord around the theme of "Get involved to contribute effectively to the development of the tourist destination North !"

Independent Entity for classification of tourist facilities
Tuesday, as part of rocess of standardization of tourist establishments, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry, announced in a press conference, that a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed by June with the "Corporation de l’Industrie du Tourisme du Québec" (CITQ), for the establishment of an independent entity of classification of hotels in Haiti, "CITQ-Haiti". As part of this partnership, the Haitian classifiers will be trained locally by the CITQ which will evaluate the institutions in different regions of the country. The Minister took the opportunity to unveil the hotel classification label that will be displayed from June 2014 in all hotel facilities already classified.



69% of tourists in Haiti are rom the United States
According to the latest report of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) for the number of tourist arrivals, Haiti recorded in 2013, a growth of over 20% https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-10974-haiti-tourism-increase-of-more-than-20-of-tourists-in-haiti-2013.html . Out of all the 420,000 visitors Haiti received in 2013, more than 33,000 of them are from Canada, an increase of 60% since 2011. Yet the United States remains the largest source of tourists for Haiti 69% for a total of nearly 292,000 visitors.

ATH thank the diaspora and foreigners
The Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH) warmly thanks the diaspora and foreigners who chose to spend their Easter holidays in Haiti to discover or rediscover the historical, cultural and seaside sites in the country. "Making local tourism is to encourage domestic production of services, is helping to create wealth, is to allow the creation of jobs our country needs and it is mainly to allow our children and our youth to discover and appreciate our heritage and our wealth," stressed ATH.

Miss World Haiti
On Wednesday, a meeting took place between a team from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries and the staff of "Miss World Haiti" led by Azael Anédie (Miss Haiti 2011 and candidate for Miss Universe 2011), its was discussed of the possible support of the Ministry of Tourism to Haitian youth who take part in the contest. The organizers have announced that the first phase aiming at electing a representative for Haiti in the final phase of the contest "Miss World International" will begin soon on the whole national territory.
