Haiti - Politic : Inauguration of a modern bus station in Mirebalais

Last Saturday, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE), Réginald Delva, the Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities (MICT), accompanied by Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Deputy Abel Descollines and Mayor Max Millien, inaugurated the first modern bus station of Mirebalais, in the presence of Michel Lubin, Secretary of State for Local Authorities, Donald Parison, Director of the Metropolitan Service of Collection of Solid Waste (SMCRS) and various managers in public administration, representatives of the drivers' union Mirebalais and many notables of the city .

Cofinanced up to 5 million Gourdes by MPCE (communal fund) and the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) of Canada, the bus station built under the project management of MPCE, meet modern construction standards and include a parking for up 4 buses, a waiting room of 36 seats to comfortably accommodate passengers bound for nearby cities, a food court and a toilet block.

In his remarks for the occasion, the Minister Delva called drivers serving the Mirebalais by the National #3, to exercise caution and act responsibly to ensure transportation in decent conditions and safely, stressing that "the bus station of Mirebalais is a model, that it would be desirable to replicate across the country."

The population of Mirebalais applauded this new service infrastructure and emphasized that this bus station was a real revolution in transit in the lower Central Plateau.

Moreover, the same day, the Minister Delva accompanied by among other Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie proceeded to lay the first stone of the new building to house, within twelve months, an annex of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) in Mirebalais. Calling on Mirebalaisiens to fulfill their tax obligations and to fully participate in the construction of the pride and the development of their commune.
