![]() Haiti - Agriculture : Presentation of the first batch of Agricultural equipment of Venezuela 09/05/2014 10:03:39
In the presence, among others, of Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Elias Jaua Milano, Venezuelan Foreign Minister and Vice President of Political Affairs of Venezuela, Ambassador of Venezuela, Pedro Antonio Canino Gonzalez, and about two hundred representatives of farmers associations in the country, the Head of State expressed satisfaction and thanked the government and people of Venezuela for their constant and overwhelming support to the reconstruction and development of Haiti. For its part, the Venezuelan Chancellor reaffirmed the support of President Nicolas Maduro, of the Government and people of Venezuela to the administration Martelly "[...] Today, as you know, we come here with the deepest Bolivarian spirit to accomplish a historic debt, when we do something for Haiti. We do it with full awareness that it is our duty [...] we came on behalf of the memory of the Supreme Commander Hugo Chavez, the liberator Simon Bolivar and the commitment of President Nicolas Maduro to accompany the Haitian people in its fight against poverty [...] the Haitian people are a great people." ![]() The distribution of this equipment is part of the vision of President Martelly to the agricultural sector, which must respond to the challenge to significantly increase domestic production. This objective also touches two major axes : job creation and food security. "With these materials, we will make many exploits. These equipments allow us to plow our land in record time," rejoiced, for its part, Cérameau Romélus which intervened on behalf of farmers. The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe indicated "Another batch of 85 tractor accessories, 75 generator sets, 100 pumps etc... should arrive on 22 this month. This equipment will be used to launch the Agricultural Service Centres in the 10 departments of the country to support associations and cooperatives. The first two Centre for Agricultural Service will be launched at the next 'Gouvènman an Lakay Ou' to be held in Nippes, Artibonite." In addition, as part of this fruitful cooperation, young Haitians have benefitedin Venezuela, of training in the fields of agriculture, education and sport. They will contribute to the efforts of the Martelly Administration to reinvigorate the country. The Head of State, while renewing the commitment of his Administration to the agricultural sector, has called on all stakeholders to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of farmers across the country.
