Following the swearing in of 7 of the 9 members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) Friday, May 9, 2014, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11115-haiti-elections-twist-7-of-9-cep-representatives-were-sworn.html Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Safety, in the presence of representatives of the international community including the U.S. Ambassador in Haiti, Pamela White and Sandra Honoré, the Special Representative of the Secretary General United Nations, proceeded Monday, May 12, 2014, to the installation of seven members of the CEP [4 women, 3 men] www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11115-haiti-elections-twist-7-of-9-cep-representatives-were-sworn.html , paving the way, according to the Minister Sanon, to the election of two thirds of the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies and Local Authorities on 26 October, promising the Electoral Council, all the support from the Government.

In his speech, Me Frizto Canton, the new representative of the Executive [which replaces the former President challenged Emmanuel Ménard] declared "[...] My colleagues and I will continue the work already begun as part of next elections," stressing "Canton is not the man's man, but a man of the Republic at the service of the Nation. Parties must go to elections and they must not rely on the favors of someone," assuring the population that the next electoral contest will be "free, fair and democratic."
