Haiti - Politic : Jacques Edouard Alexis also wants an army

Earlier this week, Jean Hector Anacacis (Modejha) declared that if he were elected in charge of the country, one of its priorities would be to equip the country with an armed force in order to establish a sedentary climate favorable to the investors.

Jacques Edouard Alexis (MPH), presidential candidate of Haiti, who was accompanied by his party chairman, Samir Moura in Dominican Republic, revealed that to maintain national security "We will create a new army to assist the national police, it will be like a national gendarmerie, we will mobilize young people aged between 18 and 25 who will receive civic education to help people in trouble or to reforest the country [?]" This is a controversial topic that does not make him not afraid he said he expected "a program to attract young people to join the new armed forces."

Concerning the presence of the international forces of Minustah on the Haitian territory, the candidate specified "I think we will have to work this idea in.liaison.with the international diplomacy, to conclude this project, we will negotiate a progressive withdrawal calendar with Minustah" Questioned on the risks which could represent an army in Haiti, taking into account the fact that in the past she was responsible for many evils, Alexis said he was confident "I do not believe that this initiative, if it is disciplined, is a step backwards for Haiti, but rather it is a real institutional strengthening".

If the words of Jean Hector Anacacis to establish an army if he were president leaves no doubt about the military role of the latter, it is quite different from the "army" referred to Alexis, a mixture of service civic, humanitarian consists of young people who come to support the Haitian National Police (PNH). A concept which, as the project requires one to extend the discourse to become understandable and possibly a reality. But the campaign has not yet begun, no doubt we'll know more in the coming weeks if the candidate Alexis always think of this project.
