Haiti - Economy : The Senate finally voted the State budget (2013-2014)

After having been rejected to the Senate September 24, 2013 (7 votes against, 6 for and 4 After being rejected

to the Senate September 24, 2013 (7 votes against, 6 for and 4 abstentions) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9521-haiti-economy-the-senate-vote-against-the-finance-bill-2013-2014.html , to 5 months of the expiry of the current fiscal year, and after ratification by the lower house on May 2 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11069-haiti-politic-the-deputies-voted-the-revised-budget-law-2013-2014.html the Senate finally ratified Wednesday, May 22, the Finance Bill (2013-2014) in the same terms (11 votes in favor, 1 against and 3 abstentions)

Senator Steven Benoît voted against the budget for the 8th consecutive year and 3 Senators of G6 (Group of senator of the minority opposition) abstained : Jean-William Jeanty, Pierre Francky Exius and Westner Polycarpe.

Recall that this budget amounted to 118.7 billion gourdes, revised down 10% compared to the previous year, includes budgetary provisions required for salary adjustments, including those in the education sector.

By June 30, the government should table the budget for the new fiscal year (2014-2015).
