On Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, returned home after traveling 48 hours in Cuba during which he held talks with his counterpart Raul Castro. On the agenda of discussions : strengthening of the Haitian-Cuban cooperation, tripartite cooperation Cuba-Haiti-Brazil, the organization of the forthcoming elections and regional policy.

President Martelly President warmly thanked Castro for the considerable support from Cuba to Haiti for many years in the fields of health, education, agriculture and technical cooperation "My administration and the Haitian people as a whole are very grateful to you as well as your people, for this great momentum of active solidarity. What Haitians remember most of your commitment to our side, it is the feeling of deep love that characterizes it."

In the perspective of the organization of the forthcoming elections, President Martelley told to Raul Castro, the various advances and reiterated its strong commitment to put all necessary means available to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) so that it can, independently and transparently, organize free, fair and democratic elections in the country at the end of this year.

In the context of major regional issues, the two Presidents agreed on the need to walk at the same pace in the dynamics of integration and development, including at the CARICOM level.

At the end of this trip the President Michel Martelly and Raul Castro agreed to continue to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation that characterize the Haitian-Cuban relations.
