Haiti - Justice : The Minister of Justice calls to order Fanmi Lavalas
Following the declarations of incitement to violence and chaos of two senior officials of the executive board of the Fanmi Lavalas party, in a statement dated June 3, 2014, Jean Renal Sanon, the Minister of Justice reacts strongly and called politicians to more responsibility, tolerance and moderation, while evoking the risks to the population...

Text of Minister Sanon :
"The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) is surprised and very concerned about the latest incendiary and violent statements made by two senior executive of the Fanmi Lavalas party.

In order to maintain public order and prevent at all costs the return to a chaotic period in which the Nation still has painful memories, the MJSP feels obliged to alert the public, for the purposes of deter any potential troublemakers.

The Ministry, recalls that the mission of political parties is, among others, to maintain the good health of democracy while using peaceful and legal strategies to take power. When the most senior leaders of the party take the microphones of the press to chant slogans like (Mache pran yo), the Ministry believes that this is the whole social body, especially the other political parties themselves, that need to be concerned.

MJSP guarantor of national security, recalls that these same slogans, thinly veiled, were used to engulf the country in black times of violence and killings, over the past two decades. Under no circumstances and for any reason, such periods should reappear in Haiti today, who swears only by the restoration of the rule of law and stability, essential conditions for attracting foreign investment.

While recalling that the Haitian Penal Code punishes inflammatory statements and incitements to violence, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, invites everyone, especially politicians, to show a sense of responsibility, tolerance and moderation, in order to help to the preservation of peace and stability key to development of any country."
