Haiti - Health : Inauguration of new hospital Dr. Raoul Pierre-Louis

Wednesday, as part of the tripartite cooperation Cuba-Brazil-Haiti, President Michel Martelly, in the presence of Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, the Minister of Health, Jude Machado Pierre, Mayor of the town, the deputy of Carrefour, Elie Blaise, Ambassadors to Haiti Ricardo Garcia Napoles (Cuba) and Jose Luis Machado e Costa (Brazil), proceeded to the inauguration of the Community referral hospital, Dr. Raoul Pierre-Louis located in Arcachon 32 (Carrefour).

The Head of State commended the fruitful tripartite cooperation, which has already led to the establishment of two other hospital referral centers, respectively in Bon Repos https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11085-haiti-health-inauguration-of-the-hospital-and-the-haitian-institute-for-rehabilitation-in-bon-repos.html and in Beudet (Hospital Ary Bordes) inthe town of Croix-des-Bouquets https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11160-haiti-health-inauguration-of-new-ary-bordes-hospital-in-beudet.html

This modern health infrastructure, which will serve more than 60,000 inhabitants, with a capacity of 61 beds, includes: 4 consultation rooms for basic services (Internal Medicine, Surgery / Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Obstetrics / Gynecology); room for specialized consultations; a room for community medicine; a vaccination room; aoperating theater with 3 operating rooms (maternity, minor surgery and ambulatory surgery); a recovery room; a delivery room; pre-and post-partum room and a resuscitation of newborns.

Minister Florence D. Guillaume, expressed her satisfaction for this new health infrastructure, which will facilitate access to health care in better conditions in the commune of Carrefour.

The Cuban and Brazilian Ambassadors, for their part, reiterated the intention of their Government to continue to support Haiti in other areas. They commended the First Lady, Sophia Martelly and the Minister of Health for their involvement in improving the quality of health care provided to the population.
