Haiti - Agriculture : Delivery of boat engines to fishermen from Grand d'Anse 14/06/2014 09:58:23
Following a request made by the representatives of fishermen in Jérémie, last March during the 6th edition of "Gouvènman an Lakay ou" program, Réginald Delva, the Minister of the Interior, accompanied by Ruthlande Anglade, Director of Territorial Collectivities proceeded this week at the National Emergency Operations Centre (COUN), in Delmas 2, to the delivery of 25 Boat engine Yamaha 15 HP and 35 Igloo cold boxes for the benefit of Fishermen's Associations of the Grand-Anse. This donation of equipment estimated at 2 million Gourdes was delivered to the Departmental Delegate of Grand Anse, Wiener Norman and to Pierre Ronald Étienne, Acting Agent of the city of Jérémie in response to commitments undertaken by the former Ministry of the Interior, David Basile. Minister Delva expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of this project and stressed the need for the various actors involved in the chain of development, to working with local authorities and most importantly, pay particular attention to proposed projects by young people in the communities, to encourage and promote the sustainability of services in communities. The Minister congratulated the Departmental Delegate and Acting Mayor of Jérémie, for their contribution to this project and also invited fishermen's associations, to ensure the maintenance and proper management of these engines, in order to make of it a model to be replicated in other departments of the country.
