Haiti - Tourism : Progress of Projects of Development Plan of Île-à-Vache
At its 6th formal meeting, the Steering Committee of Project of Development Plan of Île-à-Vache, headed by Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) and Marie Carmelle Rose Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of Human Rights and the Fight Against Extreme Poverty, allowed to provide an update on the major advances record in recent months in the field.

During this meeting, the Minister Villedrouin announced a review of the Order declaring Ile-à-Vache, zone reserved for tourism development. Mrs. Augustus on his side, which manages the component "Fight against Extreme Poverty" of the Development Plan, has reported a set of measures that are being taken to strengthen social programs on island.

In addition, the Société d’Aménagement et de Développement (SODADE) proceeded with the updated presentation of the work undertaken during the second phase of socio-territorial engineering program. 5 public fountains were built for the distribution of water in the localities, a project that has mobilized a local workforce of 50 people according to Sabine Malebranche of the SODADE.

Drilling :

The company Geotechsol followed up drilling on the island, indicating that they already made 7 drill whose 3 positive. According to the engineers of the company, with 4 drilling only 70% of families on the island can be supplied with drinking water.

Infrastructures :

Development Plan for Agriculture and Fisheries :
Fresner Dorcin, the Secretary of State for Plant Production presented the progress of various projects of the Development Plan for Agriculture and Fisheries :

He indicated that the calculation of the "Baseline", designed to measure the progress and impact of different agricultural programs on local communities, was conducted jointly with the National Council for Food Security (CNSA). After an investigation involving young people from different areas of Ile-à-Vache, a preliminary report will be submitted to the Committee in late June.

Regarding the project of arboriculture, 41 young people (out of 50) have already been recruited by the team of the Institute for Research and Support for Local Development (IRADEL) under the development program agro fruit farms.

Mr. Dorcin stressed that the participation of residents in the first phase of rehabilitation of mangroves was successful and informed having already begun the second phase emphasizing that 15 local artisans participating in the "Echo Recho" campaign aimed at discouraging the abusive exploitation of mangroves.

Finally, under the Support Programme for the Development of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture, the Coordinator Bernard Chauvet, announced the distribution of fishing equipment, the construction of 3 Fisheries centers to facilitate the conservation and fish processing, installation of 6 Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) and 40 "traps flow" and the construction of 3 jetties to facilitate unloading seafood.

Training :
To encourage the involvement and participation of people in the implementation of various projects of the Development Plan, the National Vocational Training Institute (INFP) announced the admission of 200 young people in a training program for a period of 7 months in disciplines such as plumbing, electricity, computers, masonry and accommodation.
